**To comply with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare requirements for the Habilitative Interventionist course requirements, as of January 25, all students will be required to complete the mentor component for each class.

The Mentor Model is designed to enhance the learning and understanding of specific concepts and requires candidates to interact with instructors in a structured environment through specific exercises designed to enhance the course material based on an individual candidate’s needs.  This Mentor Model will be available for those who need the additional support and guidance; those seeking academic credits for the coursework; and professional development credits.  The Mentor Model will be provided through a synchronous and asynchronous threaded discussion board forum.  Evidence of instructor and candidate interaction can be evidenced through individual logs for each candidate exercise.

Each exercise will be set at a minimum of 30 minutes interaction time but may be as much as 2 hours depending on the exercise.

The Mentor Model will be based on a series of exercises that will consist of activities such as:

    EXAMPLES

    1. Reading journal articles and then responding to instructor prompted questions and receiving feedback on responses.

    2. Reading a specific vignette or case study and then responding to instructor prompted questions and receiving feedback and coaching via threaded discussions

    3. Watching a podcast or video and then responding to instructor prompted questions, reflections, or scenarios regarding the podcast.

    4. In a response to an instructor guided scenario, students will identify the type of contingency operation (i.e. positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, negative punishment, and extinction), using a drag-and-drop method with a computer mouse to select the correct place on the interface in a matrix to place each item.
